I just finished reading that whole, ugly string. It is full of ugly statements back and forth, and the message of both sides is getting lost in the emotional interest that each side has invested into their respective chars...blinding them to the perhaps valid points of the other side....
Let me try to put it in a way that is digestible and non-flamatory (not that You asked me to, but that I have nothing better to do)
side 1) Anti-min.
Side 2) pro-min.
First off, Side two is correct in saying that Min had a fully thought out role and plan for his char, and that he pulled it off to a T. And it is just unfortunate coincidence that it took the arbiters 5 months of getting beat down to declare war, and that it happened at the same time of his deletion.
Side two has perfectly valid points that Min, nomatter what the motivation, executed his rp and pk at a level quite above par.
BUT
Side one is also valid in pointing out that, as well planned and executed as min's role was...the percieved motivation BEHIND him doing this role (his burning, perhaps consuming hatred of cheaters in this game he is passionate about). It does seem, by looking at Min's rp from a few different char's eyes, and by looking at his posts on the forum, that this was by in large the motivating force behind most of his in char choices.
Side one is correct in saying that two wrongs do not make a right. Punishing people who cheat by using ooc knowledge by using ooc knowledge is at best....sketchy. And what happened to the benefit of the doubt. I know that myself, and most of the other FTA'ers only do play one char at a time, so to me it seems that your flat out refusal to acknowledge that ANYONE ANYWHERE does this is a bit....well...irrational. A person, a player (not character) would do good to remember the benefit of the doubt. Unless you are an imm looking at sockets and log in times etc....I do not care how smart you are...but you have no proof, zero, zilch. Now I am not making any statement on that rumor of what imm you play, if you play an imm, But it seems to me, that if you indeed play and imm, and are looking at this socket information, Why are you useing that ooc knowledge to influence what you did with Min? If you had proof, why did you not use your imm to punish the offenders...instead of labeling all who you had suspisions about as cheaters and then makeing in char reasons to make their playing experience...unpleasurable.
And if you are not an imm...Why are you makeing these broad sweeping generalities based on no fact whatsoever and turning them into in-char vendettas? Why not report in an ooc note to the imms, or an email, and have them watch and punish who really is cheating?
There, I think I stated the arguments of both sides fairly. My conscience is clear...heh.
