I have a mid-range paladin, no extra communes/skills beyond the ones listed, spec'd in two handed combat.

The skills are useful, but the disadvantages I've noticed are:

1. you can not initiate combat with them,

2. they take two rounds to accomplish,

3. I swear to God, it is more difficult to master strike of faith than shapeshift. I have used it every two rounds of virtually every battle, and it's at 89%. I don't know if the Imms have tweaked it since Solkar mastered it "with relative ease", but be prepared for alot of work to get to the strikes in Nicolette's log.

The advantages that I've noticed are:

1. More versatility. There's at least one that's worth the two round lag in a PK.

2. The challenge.

My hopes are:

1. The lag on some/all of the skills lessens as you master them, like camo/ambush for rangers. Although I watched Nicolette fight for ten minutes or so, and all her skills were still 2 rounders.

2. You are granted more skills when you've proven your roleplay to your god of choice (I haven't, yet :P).

In short, I've seen maybe half of what two handers can do, and so far I'm not disappointed, in fact, I'm very motivated to discover everything, but.. I'd probably choose shield if you're looking for a safe, reliable choice.
