Well may be it's a matter of taste. But your reasoning is a bit strange. Polearm is also bad for damage because of no dual wield.
You will never be able to get everything you need.
Afraid of -str? Wear eq +str. Against assasin much better tactic would be
wield axes or maces and bash - fight may end in couple of rounds so
chances to get -str are low. Against shaman.
Well trust me you will not be able to kill shaman
using h2h if you are low on str. May be it will make
you easier to escape a bit though I really doubt.
Look at Leradok's fight against storm shaman or Minalcar
fighting him. What they used? Flurry, just flurry.
Yes it is great for defence and can hit good sometimes if person
does not know how to parry it but still.
