Yes,

It takes up bandwidth by requiring additional bytes sent and received to repaint your screen with the additional text. I would expect repainted html from the fancy schmancy logs to take up more. Nothing here can be more than a couple of Kbytes can it? Secondarily, the redraw times from the website itself are likely slower because of the additional seek times on the disk caused by a larger "journal" or index (or fatthingy). Probably not enough to warrent a 30 day archiving strategy or even notice. Yet.
