I'm not going to flame you, Imbrogno, and I did not mean to offend you with that post. I just feel that if you run across someone that can prey on a particular weakness, the best option is not to allow them to use that weakness, and structure the situation in your favor. ie. Don't let them sing fiend. A bard shouldn't be able to surprise you (unless he's sylvan), so every time you fight one, you should be prepared for the fiend. Any and all protections you can think of should be going. Any and all spell effects you can think of should be going. Any way of disrupting his fiending/sucking out his mana/using one-round supps should be done. Any way of exploiting *his* weakness should be utilized. My only disagreement with you is that I firmly believe that any weakness in this game can be shored up through preparation, and you seem to be saying that you can do nothing. That being said, re: your ideas, I think there is virtually no way I would summon the bard except under special circumstances, and there is virtually no way I'd use two-round supps (like rot, et al) except under special circumstances against someone that could put me to sleep. (Mainly because I've played a character that could sleep, and that's the kind of thing you hope the other guy will do). Wrath to the Wicked.
