I agree, the pets are actually are actually quite hard to kill by themselves. The only time I managed to kill a prepared conjie, was because he was an idiot, and attacked giant sword spec rager warrior with his familiar, it died and devasted him, I thirsted and redirected into him, and I still ended up being about 60% health (thats from like 2/3 rounds of combat where the elemental was doing the damage.

You shouldnt need to get lucky ie conjie attacks before sancing himself, and runs into you thirsting and into a good flurry.
And you shouldnt have to take them at the destructor, and entwine them.
