I have. A certain warrior used it to *ahem* cope with Aristaeia's drawback.

Not to my knowledge.

They might if someone might block their retreat in one or more directions. Or if there's quicksand nearby. Or a nasty inner cabal guardian. Or they're fighting at the site of their own outer guardian (or centurions), and would prefer to end up inside their cabal (or on the "safe" side of the cents).

I'm not saying it's bash or anything. But it's not detect magic either.
