...I've been playing CF since the first few months it came up. The only person I know in real life is Guile.. I live 10 mintues away from him. He told me to telnet over to the MUD. We never grouped together, never e-mailed or messaged eachother to 'come on at the same time' and in fact we even telnetted from the same Bulletin Board (That was when BBSes were the main thing for Internet Access.) It was a few things... 1) It was not advantageous for us to group.. He was very high level, CF was my first mud. 2) We had morals and I was never given items from him. In fact, the only way he helped me was that he told me to run around, scanning in every direction I was about to walk, and looking in every room. From that point on, after Guile was changed to Neutral (he was an AP) and he died from old age, I have had no CF contact with him.. so that's I guess at least five years ago. In fact, I haven't talked to him in RL for a few months.. I should give him a call. Other than that, in all my years of playing I have never asked someone for their e-mail address or whatever. Many (many) people have asked me, "ooc what's your email address, it was good to group with you." and I say "ooc I don't give that out." It's a judgement call, it's a moral issue. I personally don't care if you think I'm lying through my teeth right now, or if you truly believe what I am saying.. (you should.) Knowing a lot about CF is useful, true, but you really get a sense of appreciation for it when you DO IT YOURSELF and you REJECT all help. That's the key word. REJECT. People will approach you, people will post messages about secrets and stuff.. don't look at them. I am trying to think of a time someone spoonfeeded me something major (like wand locations and stuff) and it has never happened OOC. I think the problem with people that complain about Elitists and such is that they are not willing to roleplay effectively. Do you realize that it took me three hours of solid roleplaying just to find out where a 'straight razor' was? I never knew, and I found out *IN GAME*. People should try that sometime.. there's a certain eloquence that you need to have to come off as someone competent and others will respect your quest for Knowledge and help you out. Stay away from IRC. I never have gone into the IRC channel and I turned out fine. Another fact... I only started reading this Forum the beginning of this year and to be blunt.. I would only listen to the IMMs answers on certain things, they are in the know about the issues... other people are just guessing, accurately at times. > All of them dipshits were given hints and secrets through their immortal friends. That is what makes them such assholes. They were given the same things that some people ask on the forum and they reply with shit head answers.
