I am just browsing when I see this post but I figured I should quell some of the misguided attitudes. Defenders are probably the funnest, yet more difficult ragers to play. You are constantly running around bandaging people and you rarely recieve any thanks. Yes they are the more difficult of the defender/scout/berserkers to play, but in the right hands they should be very difficult to kill. Thus the reason they get their cabal powers at a later point then the other two factions of Battle. There are ways to avoid area spells but I won't feed you with the silver spoon on this forum. You could approach a village elder and hope they know the secret to playing a strong defender or you could try one for yourself. # -- About the two ideas suggested. The last thing battle needs to be is split up like Empire. There are sects for a reason. Empire is about tactics and civilization. Battle about heritage, courage and pride. Their ways are barbaric, so why would they 'force' someone to learn a particular faction of war? Free will is probably one of the strongest attributes associated with Battle. I for one, would like to see it continue like this. - Thormaker your points Though Minalcar turned out being hated he was good at what he did. I would watch as he single handedly slew masters at the archmage. A berserker is just that, filled with rage which is reflected in their powers. - On your points Imbrogno It is most likely anyone wishing to join battle for the challenge will become a defender. The hardcore battleragers will lean towards this at some point and you will see battle filled with defenders. As of now no one really sees the strength of the Defender faction. Take a little time to play one and I promise you that you will not be disappointed. Final advice. If you dislike the current ragers or how they function in the cabal, by all means play one. I am doing my best to reward the RP in the village and playing my scornful father role where it is needed. I would gladly welcome the challenge/interaction of a well-developed character. I'm up for it, are you? Thror HammerSong
I wouldn't say these ragers are -trying- to be like Minalcar, rather they are fitting the usual Berserker cookie-cutter role.
There are requirements, one of which Aniedra does very well. The amount of RP coming out of battle these days is very impressive. There are strong roles and well-developed characters in battle which keeps it from being the bloodthirsty cabal that it was in the past. From the current leadership, I would say battle is more goal-oriented then it used to be.
