In Reply to: Really want to roll a Storm Giant Paladin. Can anyone give some info like pros and cons for this combo. I will go with shield dedication if that helps. n/t posted by Bishop on July 29, 2000 at 20:41:42:

Storm Giant Paladins are strong. Being a shield specialist with storm giant resist, and sanctuary at the least will make you take damage fairly well.

From an explorations standpoint: Yes! If you roleplay well, you probably are one of the stronger classes for exploration. As a Paladin, your good deeds will make you a lot of friends, and you will be able to explore just about anywhere.

From a playerkilling standpoint: You are going to have some trouble with mages, Necromancers specifically (sleep).
Shamans will give you troubles as well (dispel magic). Anything evil is going to be hurt by your 'wrath' supplication. You will fight well against warriors, thieves, and assassins. Regardless, your healing ability, word of recall, and other supplications will make you very versatile and difficult to kill.

Remember to write a role and stick to it, I believe the fun comes out of roleplaying a Paladin. They are arguably the most strict class to play, and I love them for their roleplayed vices, not their pk strength.

To sum up:

Pros:
- Hard to kill
- Good explorers
- Extremely fun to roleplay
- Versatile
- Empowerment/etc. brings immortal interaction
- Strong at all levels
- Lots of friends
- Without giving anything away, Paladins can be much more than what they appear to be when you take a first glance. Keep roleplaying!

Cons:
- Not really for a newbie player, though can be a good learning experience
- Of course, the exp penalty...
- Lack of lagging skills makes it difficult to actually kill an opponent that you fight
- I don't recommend a Paladin for the player that just likes to PK, and roleplays only when watched and such.

Hope this helps
