I'd wrack it up more to unlucky praying times...I'm not overly sure how I feel about maran conjies using 'gaunts. I think a lot would depend on what the justifications/reasons/rationales of the conjie were. Conjies are an odd class for a maran, simply because they have access to things that are unmaranly....it'd be a bit like a Selric shaman using plague, or a conjie of Ish who only walked around with elementals, or (if his religion was still around) a druid of Twist...I'll give the gaunt v maran some more thought.
