Actually I do quite a bit of research on armor and weapons
and participate in reenactment. I've seen live steel fights
(actual fights, not the renaissance stuff) and I do know what
I'm talking about. First off, using two swords is almost unheard
of as a weapon style. It was usually spear & sword or maybe rapier
and dagger in the later time around the renaissance. As far as armor
goes, try wearing full plate and tell me it doesn't stop pretty much
every single f*cking weapon used against it. Do some research if you
don't believe me. A good set of full plate won't dent more than slightly
when hit by even a poleaxe. The only problem with full plate was in the
joints, but a good smith could solve that problem and did in the later
era of plate. Chain was good for swords. That's it. As far as having
padding under it, well no sh*t. There's a reason you wear a padded gambison
under a hauberk of mail. That is unless you like having the links driven
into your flesh. I'll just stop right now since I don't really wish to
rehash my post. Next time, don't be so f*cking condescending unless you actually
know what you're talking about.
