Roundhouse doesn't stun every time, and to the best of my knowledge even when it does it doesn't stun for any longer than a trip does. So if you have the power to kill them without the added damage of the roundhouse, then use trip to keep them in battle. If you need that extra powerful hit, chance roundhouse. But never depend on roundhouse to stun 100% of the time.
