Imagine it this way... Once you get into ragers, you will essentially be a warrior with a 300 exp penalty. Your benefits over other warriors will be... cleave (which is nice, but compared to having specs?), and demand. You will never get dodge, fourth attack, the AP-defining spells such as bloodlust, unholy weapon, wands, summon, protection, deafen, earthbind.... Anybody who plays a rager AP over a warrior or thief, is going to have to deal with the increased number of mage protections and pets, with absolutely no way of dealing with them. Warriors in desperate situations atleast have a _chance_ of survival because of access to a variety of weapon specializations. Cleave/Bash/trip/lash as your sole means of attack will leave you with no hope whatsoever of competing once you get above level 30. AP's without spells, nomatter what rager powers they have, will always be hideously inferior to a warrior, even an uncaballed warrior. Now, if you really, really wanted a Rager AP because it presents a roleplaying challenge, I suspect many will applaud you for your courage. You will still get your ass handed to you by everybody with a grudge against both evil and ragers, though, so you may want to take up a defensive role with ragers (scout/defender) to make up for your lack of defenses and magical protections.
Yes, a rager Ap or two has been done before (Ie, Guen), but that was a very rare event. They were pretty serious players, and stuck with it even though they had their asses handed to them a number of time.
