It's borderline. Whether or not you believe Eriwal deserved the form depends on how much you trust the Immortals to make fair and impartial decisions (Twist was Eriwal's God, and ultimately decided to give him the form). Personally, I trust their maturity to make fair and impartial decisions. It's a borderline deciision to even make something as ridiculously powerful as the wolverine, let alone give it to an Imm's mortal char, but, apparently, Eriwal proved that he deserved it. (and, more importantly, he never abused the power to slaughter everyone in his range.) So ask yourself, do you trust Twist and Cador, there? Myself? I do. Also, the reason why you bringing it up here is irrelevent is because Arcane used the incident as an illustration about how you can not blindly trust the Immortals' words on the forum as gospel. When Arcane made a comment on the forum about how powerful Eriwal was, CADOR responded on the forum as an IMMORTAL and told Arcane that Eriwal "really wasn't that powerful, and there was plenty that Challen could have done to win." Cador used his sway as an Immortal to bend the judgement of a then-naive player. Arcane warned against allowing the Immortals to bend and twist your better judgement simply because they are Immortals (they are human, as well, and make mistakes). Graatch isn't advising people to make their own observations, Graatch is accusing the immortals of blatantly cheating, which goes beyond what Arcane was saying. You are taking the Eriwal situation out of context by applying it here. There is a difference, there. Even if I couldn't put it clearly, there is a difference.
