Age isn't as much of a factor as the helpfiles imply, especially if you are a new character just starting out. Every character lives somewhere around 400-600 hours, most of that being based on race, some being reflected by class, and a tiny bit is complete luck. And, honestly, just about nobody lives that long... figure maybe .01% of players will die of old age. So, just play whatever appeals to you and don't worry about what will happen in 6 months or a year.
