I am working under the assumption that you are fairly new, as this happens to everybody when they are just starting out.

First off, what kind of equipment was it? Limited? (Limited eq cannot be put into containers, that's one way of checking).
Secondly, what level were you?

Low level chars can't keep limited equipment when they quit, it just vanishes(this is to prevent people from creating level 1 mule chars just to hold their loot). Non-limited stays equipment isn't affected though.

Just get into your teens and you'll be able to hold on to your limited gear... provided its obtained fairly, and not through multicharring.
