> I think cabals should be a HELLUVA lot harder to get into. We're in disagreement here. I think only the better players should be in a cabal(except for Empire which should be the catch-all). I view cabals as a privilege, not a right. You shouldn't be able to roll up a character knowing you're going to get into a cabal with great ease, it should mean something.

This I disagree with in a way. One of the things I hate most, is trying a MUD, and because of the mere fact that you're new, you're excluded from a lot. I always liked the idea of a sort of applicant status. People who wish to join a Cabal, but really aren't good/knowledgable enough, can be admitted as a low-ranking person, and *maybe* get a power for their efforts. If they never progress beyond that, fine. They're still *part* of the cabal, and get a *slight* benifit. If they do finally become good enough, they can join.

Also, if it's set up as a sort of cabal-mate, though with no powers(Just cabal channel, and the ability to go into the HQ, if it fits), you could have very interesting rp. Say a bard who wants to record the adventures of a cabal, or a warrior who cannot be a mage himself, but sees magic as very good, and wishes to protect mages. I know it can all be done anyways, but you're just out of the loop, if you're part of the cabal.
