In your scenario the enemy comes up to you and your two groupmates. Presumably you are levelling somewhere. The enemy knows this. If the enemy sees three of you, levelling, and chooses to attack, it is likely they are aware of all of you, what you can generally do, and are nonetheless coming at you. They are prepared. And since you are levelling, and they know it, you have to figure that they know you are all assisting, or at least likely assisting. Meaning you have autoassist on. In real life there is no such thing as autoassist and of course you make a conscious choice about what to do at every step. In the game, however, that is not the case, and if you and your two rager buddies are levelling it is reasonable that you all have autoassist on, and that if someone comes and attacks you, that at least for the first part of the fight, that enemy will be fighting all three of you. The question is, what do you do when you realize it isn't you that is being attacked, but your groupmate. Once the mob you were fighting is dead, I think you should flee. Do not use any of your skills against the enemy. There is no courage in that. Let the rager who was attacked fight it out with the mage. Unless, of course, there is some overwhelming circumstance that would make it couragous for you to join him, i.e. a lich with 5 level 70 hasted mobs. THat sort of thing. But for the most part, it is perfectly fine that in the beginning of the fight you are fighting the enemy, since you are assisting due to levelling, but as soon as you can you should flee, turn off autoassist, then return and watch how your fellow rager does.
