Its been a long time since I checked into transmuters, so correct me if I am wrong on this but:

The only aspect of items that transfers over when you shapeshift are things like +hp, +mana, +mv, and I believe saves.

+Stat eq (str, dex...), +Damage, special abilities (like black hammer cure lights), and special effects (like dragonskin resist) etc don't carry over into a form.
