Years ago, 2nd age, I had a successful Drow AP.. 40s. I can't remember the name for the life of me, but... (text):

...I remember a specific battle where three Giant warriors (ranging from 42-45) attacked me, and I was able to tank all three of them. Killing one, and driving the other two off.

Drow APs are considerably strong, and as I always say... The 500 exp penalty is there for a reason, damn good spellcasters too.

> There have been very few of these done well. The only memorable drow shaman that I know of was a High Priest, though I can't remember his name. He was decent. Then there was that drow shaman arbiter that I got booted for flagging me after I killed him in the Sylvan Grove. I don't remember his name either.

> I don't know of any ultra-successful drow anti-paladins.

> The thing with these two classes is that they have to be able to take blows. Shamans(or is it shamen?) need a fairly long fight in order to get their maledictions on. So they have to absorb a lot of damage without having to fall back on cure crits to keep them in it. Anti-paladins don't get dodge, and if you don't know where to get all of the wands/staves it can be a pretty hazardous occupation. They to need to absorb damage.

> If there's one thing a drow doesn't do well, it's absorb damage, what with the paltry constitution and all.

> If you're going to play a drow anti-paladin or shaman, I would suggest playing them MORE like a mage, and LESS like a fighter. As a shaman you should take the back-up utility role for a friend who can tank. Stand in the rear and do your plaguing and so on. You're not going to do a lot of solo pk'ing I don't think, simply because you don't have the con/hps to play with. As a drow anti-paladin you should pretty much rely on sleep, and if you fail it, run and try again. You shouldn't go toe-to-toe with anybody that has 1/4 of a clue.

> If you want a tank, be a giant. If you want something that is going to tear shit up with maledictions be a human(I imagine a wither coming from a shaman 9 ranks higher than you is a bitch, can you say easy -25 str?). If you can't handle not seeing hidden, and you're not going to be an arbiter, be a duergar.

> Arials are alright I imagine, but nothing to write home about, and I see few redeeming qualities to being a dwarf since you get pretty shitty hp gains and no special bonus like detect hidden or fly.

> That's just my opinion, coming from somebody who has played a few shaman in his day.
