This post assumes that you're using Windows and a capable telnet client.

Yo. The way I write a role is... I go to START->RUN and I type in EDIT. Or I just go into DOS and type EDIT. Then I write out my role, and when I'm all done and satisfied I put role + in front of every line. Then I save it in my C:\CF\charnamehere directory. When I login as my character I upload it as ASCII and what happens is that my client will send that file, as text, line by line. You'll get severely spammed but just sit tight and watch the madness. When the spamming stops you'll see your entirely role there and won't need to worry about losing it.

The following applies if you have no idea to do what I just described, or are bored at work and want to read something more.

If you have no idea what I mean, reply with what telnet client you're using. I suggest using ZOC that can be found at www.emtec.com. I happen to like this particular terminal because you can set it up to log everything, anytime, and ease of use. Besides, I've spoken to the coders and they're cool dudes. Anyway, if you get that client... it's quite simple to do what I described.

1) There's a dropdown called "Transfer".. click it.
2) Click Ascii-Send.
3) Find the file and double-click and viola! Let the madness begin.

If you insist on writing your role like this, to prevent that problem simply make a macro "role + " and hit it everytime you want to start a new line. Don't type in "role". One time I messed up my file and put a role 3 pages down, uploaded it, and it got all stupified. But I simply went into edit, fixed the line, and reuploaded it (after role clear)... It makes life a lot easier to work on things locally on your computer and then upload them there. Not only for ease of use, but also because I'm sure you see people on the Char board say "I didn't have a chance to grab my role before I deleted." or something. Every note, every description, every role, everything regarding the particular character is on my hard drive.

Zep
