What I disagree with is having this character 'burned at the stake'
as an example. One of the things that tends to bother me about the
game is the propensity of leaders to make examples of other players.
Sometimes it's warranted, and may be in this case. I don't know Hruptek's
track record.
In the end...
Hruptek became an example.. the leaders theories now become doctrine
which has the effect of tilting players to be more 'cookbookish/lyceumish'
when it comes to their answers for interviews. I could role a master
hopeful a month from now and I imagine that I would almost have to spout
this doctrine if I wanted to get in. What if I tried to use my theory
down below? I'd be branded a heretic and never inducted. Or, I'd be
told to seek out other masters and see what they say.. and likely they'll
spout the same shit.
What do we want out of the game... a certain measure of diversity in thought
and action, or cookie cut characters who spout what they need to get inducted.
In the end, the second is fostered in my belief.
