The powers they have now help them to focus their dicipline and learn things quicker. If I was someone trying to learn all I could about magic...I wouldn't say "Damn! This power that helps me learn my spells much faster sure does blow gnolls! Its for those silly mages who are still struggling with ventrilloquate!" Maybe you ENJOY spamming spells..but you know, most people don't. And since you say you are all into the master RP anyway, why do the powers matter to you at all? They are there in relation to the RP of the Cabal, not to make you a more effective killing machine.
