I don't recall ever dying to a single rager(non-bard), but if two got together it was usually too much to take, especially if one of them was using a spec that allowed them to lag me without having to use trip or bash. Aserkelan and Minalcar got me once or twice, Aserkelan using legsweep.

If you're looking for good loots shaman may not be the way to go either, since as soon as they get rotted it's a bee-line for the Destructor :) If you can use no-exit rooms, summoned mobs, and some way of ensuring that you can start combat with wither or rot(like waiting for them to start fighting a mob like an outer guardian or guildguard) then you should be able to dent them pretty good.

I haven't played in about 4 or 5 days, but if the trend has continued you should be able to rip into the many elven ragers pretty quick with a good rot. If you're looking to kill ragers, I would put a shaman right at the top of the list for your prospective class choices.
