At around 40 or so... even 35 I found archons to be sick and mean, and at hero those devils would utterly destroy people with spells/maledications.

Shamans were never a problem for me, cranial spamming did them in, but a quick wither would finish me, and if you want Barsimmon dead, I suggest you wither/flee and spam that all night.

Nothing is really 'best' against ragers, because it all depends on tactics/weapon specs/experience, for some lions are cake, while for others... lions are gods.
