The lovely thing about Thera, is the fickleness of the players and the constant pendelum swinging of who is in power, what cabal is powerful, yada yada yada. Right now there are a lot of paladins and goods, why? Welllll...not too long ago there was this little revamp of paladins. History shows that after a few groundbreakers have paved the way...there's a crop of heros and hanger-ons trying to repeat what they saw some other guy do. I refer you to countless arial sword specs after Ihlrath, dwarven clerics (back in the day) after Narsche, evil bardlings after Amberlea, etc etc etc. People see a class played with power behind it...so they swing to that class. Normally it's not a class that is alignment specific (though I do remember countless necros showing up quite some time ago...). Also a while back when all these goods were rolling, there was a (still is) elven leader of the village....more reason not to be evil. So yes, good is on the upswing...will it last? No, no it won't...relax, it's a challenge, but this to will pass. (don't believe me, do a forum search on the word 'overpowered')

You're dealing with it better than a lot of people who just say 'to hell with it' and delete. Trust me, if you keep playing, what you're going through right now will be looked back on as a trial by fire period for you...you've learned to valueable skills. 1) RUN! 2) Don't be where your enemies are looking for you.
These two skills will save your ass a lot more than you'd think.

There are some bigger drawbacks, part of the problem with fighting ragers is, once again, the fickleness of players. Best way to break Battle, have people start rolling up opposition to them....once battle loses it's 'core players' due to age/con-deaths (true cores rarely delete without odd circumstances)...Battle will come to a trickle, and we'll see an upswing in another cabal. (again, forum search on the word overpowered....it's a bit like tracing fossil records using core samples, since you'll see layers of Empire is overpowered, then Battle is overpowered, and a very narrow line of Dawn is overpowered...which proves crack use was at an all time high during that period...but I digress).
As to the drawbacks of Battle, en masse...they aren't that easy to see...when there are just 5 or so ragers, they become far more apparant (I mean 5 total, not just 5 in Thera).

*nod* I agree, but once again...Battle's main power right now is sheer numbers. It'd be similiar to a hoarde of peasants being able to take down an army of knights...if you have enough people, your enemies are ground chuck waiting to grill.

interesting ideas.

there are more around than you think, they're just hard to see.

An odd grouping, I see why...and agree with you, the 3 cabals have either 1) power, 2) beef with ragers, or 3) a lot of numbers...or 4) some combo of the other 3. As for Iracundur *shrug* I'm not a Dawnie imm, but if you really have a beef with it...might want to mention in to Selric, Raisa, Eryndorial, etc.

Okay...let's talk for a moment about what the Maran's are, quite simply they are the marked followers of Shokai. Yes, the tattoo is nasty, it hurts, and it sucks to get hit with...I had one roll over my last evil like I was a coke can on the train tracks. However to get the tattoo in the first place, you have to show me you can wipe the floor with evils without it. For most Maran the tattoo is just a time saving device...trust me, they would've killed you anyway. ie: Khiravn, Balrahd, Virdanyoln, etc...if you fought them as most evils, you know what I'm talking about.
As for making Maran a cabal, with item, powers, etc etc...*shrug* I kick the idea around, but if I do, trust me...there won't be too many more Maran's around, and if anything...they'll still be just as deadly. Best piece of advice for you, figure out who the marked followers of Shokai are (a lot of times they have titles that tend to help) and if you're evil...don't be where they can find you. OR have some allies and go hunt them.
