At low lvls (let's say below 20), it makes
mobs 'missing' you. That's armor class. Above that,
it's close to worthless (is the general opinion). I've
heard druids with -500 AC say it was getting usefull
again at that lvl.

It's some relic out of ROM / ad&d I think. Giving it
an actual meaning would be an improvement. Why not let
armor class add resistance? -100 is 10% resistance, -
500 50%. Something simple.
