Obviously there have been successful muters in the past... And many heroes... so they apparently do get past the akwardness of low/mid ranks. It's rumored that transmuters are (in some cases) among the easiest to rank quickly because they're versatile in groups... You have spells that can make you friends. I'd suggest riding their backs for a while until you have a form they can appreciate:) Then again, I've never played a muter past 26 so what do I know?
