1) Offensive spells aren't the domain of the trannie. They work on bodily alterations, etc. Shocking grasp is in the realm of the invoker. (Just don't ask me why conjies get magic missle.)

2) Depending on what you are fighting, the following pre-soften spells are pretty handy: Fly (keep tanks from being tripped, etc.), Earthbind (good damage spell), Enlarge/Reduce (can affect ability to dodge/parry, and help deal with annoying mobs that bash), Giant Strength (if they maledict), and Fumble. Not all of these will be handy in all situations.

3) Haste/slow is enough to convince many groups to take you along, even if you do nothing else. Everyone loves haste, and being able to shorten rest times with slow is great as well. You should be able to level very quickly. Trannies are usually prime groupmates.

4) If you think your current job is boring, go Arcane. Mastering shapeshift is one of the most boring tasks in all of CF. I don't know why they made it so boring, but it is.

5) No mage hits their prime until the later levels, although Conjurers are very nice starting in the late 20's. If you want quick results, trannies are not an optimal class choice.
