Disclaimer: This is my take. I am not Balgrimnr. I am not an authority.

Back in the days of Knights, nine times out of ten if someone challenged me to a duel it was because they were planning to lure me into some kind of trap.

Did I show up for some of those? Sure, I was a relative newbie and (smart money says, like you) believed I was at least twice as good at the game as I was. I was going into that trap and I was going to fight my way out of it. Hell yeah.

At least I got good at running back to my corpse fast as a ghost.

Moral of the story? Being honorable doesn't mean you have to be a total fucking idiot. If the honorguy in question has no reason to think you're any more honorable than your common gutter urchin, why should s/he walk into your trap?

There are a lot of ways to look at honor. Immediately killing every loser who talks smack to you isn't necessarily required or even appropriate. Story of the 47 (I think. . .give or take) Ronin, anyone?

Personally, I'd probably mentally file away your smack-talking and just kill you later. . .honorably and at a time of my choosing.
