I can think of a few instances in which you would want to forcibly deprive yourself (or an allied character) of any possibility of fleeing. A few are area-specific, and a few involve certain other powers being in play, either for or against the aristaeia'd character.

I can also think of a few instances (though they're somewhat obscure) in which you might want to commune aristaeia just for its healing effects.

I have to admit I'm liking the idea of an Imperial Shaman who uses it on his non-Divine groupmates whether or not they like it (they could not trust him, I think, but then he couldn't word them either): "You're fighting to the death this time, Blade. Glory to the Empire."
