You're comparing two totally different mediums, which ends up becoming two totally different games. I've given a bit of time to play EQ and Ultima...and while they're fun, and really flashy...and can offer a lot of good gaming. However, while they have the feel of a rp, and the world exploration thing down. The graphic-based gaming...is a totally different thing than CF.
MUD's and MUSH's biggest selling point is that your mind makes the descriptions of things based on the text information given to you. Where as with EQ it's more of a test of what your graphics card can put out. (I'm not knocking in anyway any of the graphics based pay-to-play online games, they're quite fun...and if you enjoy it, well worth your time and money)
If you're looking for the same experience as CF and the same feel with a graphics based medium, you won't find it....and it will never exist, for the simple reason that part of the 'feel' to CF comes from your mind's abilty to render the terrain, weather, races, etc...not your graphics card.
