First of all, the less people that know what you know, the smaller the chance that it will be used against you by your enemies.

This could be the credo of all elitists.

secondly, yes the more that know of any one location of the wands, the shorter the wait before they will be moved.

Sometimes though, the second reason makes me want to go get a 100 aura wands and give them out to everyone I know, just to get them moved.

That way I could go back to being an elitist again.
