Think about the knowlege that your character has about the quest... which is none. All your little evil person knows is that some bard just asked if he wanted to hear a story. Maybe he likes stories, and says yes. Then this bard asks him for help in finding if a friend is dead. He offers no reward, yet you bring him back his friends belongings anyway? If you had no advanced knowlege, would your evil character do this for someone?
