(Tangent.... there was a pre-Darwin theological debate about why the Creator made all of the species he did.... one prominent figure (I'd have to look up who) pointed out that whatever the answer, it would have to include "an inordinate fondness for beetles", since around 500,000 unique species of beetles (including scarabaeus sacer, an Egyptian dung beetle which was involved in religious symbolism) have been catalogued.
