Well, you know how when they resist, it sais "hatred of magic sorrounds you" or "Fills the air with his hatred of magic" or some such.

Well..I look at it as kind of an aura that has dimension that extends to the immediate area surrounding the rager.

You are right, the magic is on the pebble, not the rager...but if you are close enough to throw it at the rager, then that is close enough for his spellbane to react to the magic before it turns the pebble into a boulder, and stop it.
