Do not be concerned about PK so much.
Majority of imm_interactions are based on how you Rplay with some restrictions put by your religions/God.
In some cases you would be expected to pk a lot (Cyradia, Shokai).
In some it is completely opposite (Selric). I see nothing wrong with paladin who is follower of Selric.

In your case - do not assume what others (paladins) do it is exectly you need to do.
Make role, follow it, enjoy roleplaying it.
