I think it should extend more than just poisoning a food item. Thieves should be given a "devalue" (it's late, can't think of a better name) skill. Using this a thief would quickly sabotage an item... Maybe justify it when used on a weapon by "warping" the blade or something. Then "plant item" being another skill completely.
