It might have occurred to you that just because someone else has, in the past, done a lich quest a certain way... that does not obligate all future Spectres (*) to form an orderly line in the graveyard. Actually, a more creative approach to seeking the Becoming might be refreshing. It's like empowerment. Sure, you could sit around some shrine, repeating a pray on fifteen minute intervals, but it's not the best way to go about it if you really want to make a name for yourself. TFA's advice is sound... do something to make yourself stand above the crowd. (Heck, do that even if you aren't a Spectre.) Also... the evil cleric isn't exactly known for playing by the rules. He's evil. (Hence the name. He's didn't get the job through a promotion from Head of the Galadonian Soup Kitchen.) He'll do whatever the hell pleases him, and if you want something from him, you'd better do some selling. (*): Remember, kids: Spectres help keep the "I'm gonna sit right below hero range to avoid the big boys" population in check. Such a fragile ecosystem.
