Simply find ways to compromise. -Invoker(actually I think that perhaps lowering the quilification to 95% might be better. Save the invoker from mastering some of the spells that they will never use again after gaining the next spell ie cyclone, create water or charge weapon.) ~this might have the affect of bringing in alot of invokers but it will be short lived and they will drop off to be about average witht he rest of the mages~ -Transmuter(make mastering Shapeshift a little quicker. No-one that is Shapeshift focus ever does not sit around spamming forever, wishing they could go out and participate in things but knowing if they don't spam this they will get there buts handed to them on a stick. Simply lessen the difficulty of that one spell for them) These are the two largest complaints fix them and most people will be satisfied. Another thing you can try is to bring back the boxing gloves tweaked a little so they don't give such an advantage to mages.
