Here are the help files directly from www.CarrionFields.org.

PARRY

If at first you fail to dodge, block it. Parry is useful for deflecting attacks, and is successful more often than dodge. Parry requires a weapon for full success, the hand-to-hand skill may also be used, but results in reduced damage instead of no damage. The best chance of parrying occurs when the defender is skilled in both his and his opponent's weapon type. Also, the type of weapon you are using versus the type your opponent is using will play a significant part (don't try to parry an axe with your dagger).

IRONHANDS

Years of study and training in the art of barehand fighting causes bones to strengthen and calluses to develop to such an extent that it becomes possible to parry weapons with your hands.

Your ability in the parry skill doesn't influence your ability in the iron hands skill. However... If you're unarmed and a hand-to-hand spec, and something attacks you... you'll attempt to block it with your hands (completely) using ironhands. If you fail the block, then you'll get a parry roll, which if successful will result in reduced damage as the helpfile says.

Hope it helped,
