You're correct, I remember telling people how to get the travelling leather boots and several other quest items. I also remember telling people where shrines were and so on.

Glimo shut down his forum maybe because of money, but I think the way people acted on his forum was another big thing. He couldn't successfully police his forum as much as the imms, the readers, and I'm sure he himself would've liked.

If I remember correctly VIPs here on the forum could do very little except post with a VIP flag. I don't remember thread-deletion and IP tracking(which has since been removed from the realm of possibility except for Dio) were in the job description. We were enrolled because we didn't have a problem with revealing "secrets". At that time there was also an IRC channel outside of the normal CF channel devoted to question/answer/game-secret type stuff that was short-lived 1)because the elitists wanted to cling tightly to their knowledge and 2)there was fear of immortal crack-down upon the players who visited it.

Shortly after Glimo took down his forum(again I think it was because of the actions of the forum readers) Dioxide stepped up and I guess you could call it "caved" under immortal pressure to apply restrictions to what could be discussed where there were none before. Since that time the ability of VIPs to police the forums has increased dramatically and many of us have several VIP "perks", such as a VIP message board, thread-deletion rights, VIP flag, etc.
