I was just going to shut up, but I want to clarify this thread for anyone that is still reading it: Re: Preparation. Nepenthe and TFA, saying that they could take on others while utilizing mages without barrier protection preparation, are *still* going to have to utilize other methods of preparation to be successful. The most obvious being "stalk your opponents and choose your battles." What makes you a "sheep" on CF (PKing wise) is if you are one of those sorts that doesn't comprehend the necessity of preparation to success. Preparation can mean protections (eg barrier rods), allies (eg gang banging), picking fights (eg. summoning into a locked room or sitting duo'd or invis'd waiting for a warrior to start practicing against fifty mobs), et al. So, to tie all this into the original poster's question: Yes, you can achieve a degree of success with your anti-paladin without ever using barrier-preparation, so long as you utilize at least one of the alternative forms of preparation. However, you will likely get the crap kicked out of you if you come across someone else that is using every form of prep available (perhaps the top 5% PKers right now are that efficient). In other words: Find out the locations of the wands. I hope I helped just a little. Really.
