I have to agree with Graham. Becoming
a Master shouldn't be a "one shot" deal, and it seems to me you
miss the point of the long induction process.

Narlock isn't a hiring agent for a software company. He is an
elven leader of the "supposed" most powerful mages in all of
Thera. Please tell me how he should have approached the induction
process?

Plus, unless you are a hiring agent for a software company, you'd
realize that hiring unqualified people can also lead to your
dismissal. Should Narlock be inducting unqualified mages?
