Do these wands do anything other than increase your ac? What I mean is: if I have a barrier wand that can improve my ac by -xxx and I also have a piece of equipment (just pretend for a moment) that can improve my ac by the same -xxx would using either one give me the same effect? If the answer is yes then I don't see the big deal about these wands. It can be difficult, but not impossible, to find really good armor and a have a decent -ac rating. Yes I know having both is nice but just wondering about the effects of the wands.
