There is absolutely nothing wrong with getting together with a group of people who enjoy the same game you do and having a few drinks. So long as they aren't actually playing at the time and sitting in some lab somewhere speaking to each other and saying "that guy you want to kill is grouped with me in FoN. I'll sleep and pretend to be link dead and you come kill him" or something similar, there's absolutely nothing wrong with talking 'bout the game. Most often, I'd imagine, the conversation turns to the past. "I remember back when Tureanthen was the only Imperial, and he asked me one day if I'd take the Oath. I db-backstabbed him and killed him in hit, then told him 'no thanks.'" Myself, I see this as a much smaller issue than people actually logged on and icq/ircing info back and forth.
