For Current I read so much but I'd say a tie between Terry Goodkind and Melanie Rawn.(I must say I am VERY impressed that no one has put Jordan as there favorite. He isn't horrible but to many people read just him and I find him awful longwinded at times)

For all time I must say Tolkein just because he basically created the Genre. Without him we wouldn't have dwarves elves or so much else.
