Heh I bet subject got your attention. If you want to play purist - go on, nothing holds you. I think muters are finely unique as they are now. But I was also thinking about spell what prevents other magical affects beeing dispelled. In old game called Master of Magic there was enchantment called 'spell lock'. Another spell I liked was called 'counter magic'. If A=mana_of_opponent_spell and B=mana_put_into_countermagic chances of spell beeing succefuly cast were equial to A/(A+B). I liked these spells in MoM and and would be glad to see them beeing introduced in CF.
Perhaps arcane muters need some little adjustments but it is just my opinion.
Besides Imms are busy coding Alchemists right now.
What reminded me:
Basically it made all dispelling attempts first try to dispel that magical lock first with reduced chances.
If attempt failed on lock it did fail automatically on all other spells.
It partually prevented all opponents spells from fuctioning by making them fizzle.
You could pump extra mana in it much like most of conjurers spells.
If it was cast you got all normal saving throws you were entitled to.
Only problem was each opponent cast attempt drained power of your counter magic : B=B-A
One way or another.
