Just wanted to add a few things...

Agree here with most things.

> Human ranger: A good choice. As you can see Malaglen made this work well, and his ambushes were high enough to unspeak every time (I'm guessing). Good strength as well and dex, and can dodge pretty well. No vun which is always good too.

One of the reasons Malaglen got unspeaks with his ambushes was his damroll, which is NOT tied to race. Even a lolwy felar can get a +65 damroll. Look as his logs (search Malaglen).

> Cloud ranger: A very good choice if you think you

This is where I disagree so I just wanted to say a litte about practicing... My deleted wood elf ranger did not need till hero to perfect skills. You get bearcarge at lvl 30 and a woodelf can have it perfected by lvl 31. This will not happen with a giant. So imagine being able to prefect your skills as you rank rather than first at hero. It will make a huge difference. As to vulns, the iron thing is neither here no there in one sense. (My w-elf ranger never encoutered anyone wielding an iron weapon, go figure.) With any elf you first have to get thru shield block, parry and high dex dodge. With a giant, a mental attack, say energy drain, will hit you as a spell (you get just a get a saving throw which is dependent on INT I beleive). The vuln of a giant is easier to exploit imho. In terms of bearcharge, just enlarge yourself, it's easy enough... Oh, giants cant backrake worth a damn because you cant backrake anything smaller than youself. Heh, you've prolly rolled your character anyway by now... And, there are a lot of cloud giants, so be a rebel, try something different.
